Gone Racing

Finally got over to Devil's Bowl after the fourth of July. It was Declan's first time experiencing racing, he loved it and wants to go back for more. In two weeks they will be allowing kids to take a couple laps in the stock cars, should be a good time! After weeks of non-stop rain, this was a perfect night, to enjoy racing and the sunshine.

Americade

One of the fastest bar stools I've ever seen! Ya, I would ride on that in a heartbeat.

Jamie and I finally got out on the bike this weekend, attending the Annual Americade bike rally in Lake George, NY. Beautiful, clear, sunny day, perfect for riding in a tee shirt the whole day. Got stuck in traffic for an hour trying to leave the strip, but well worth the mini vacation and awesome afternoon!

Kiss

Have I ever mentioned, Declan loves his mama!

Thomas Day Out

Today we went on a trip to visit Thomas the Train. After a rainy trip to our destination, the skies cleared and made for an excellent afternoon. It was hard to tell who had the better time, Papa or Declan. Declan enjoyed his time riding on Thomas, getting tattoos, finding his way through the hay bale maze and playing with all the exhibits. Thomas Day Out is expected to have an attendance in North Creek NY of approx. 8000 people. This was our second year going to this event!

Sunday Ride

Finally got out on the bike today for a little while. Definitely need to get a leather jacket in the near future. The fleece jacket I wore did nothing for that cold windy weather today. Still, felt great getting on those two wheels and enjoying some V-Twin power. Need to take some updated photos of my bike with some of the modifications I've done since last year.

Papa Flips

So Papa came over today and saw the new dirtbike. It's been twenty years since his last ghost ride. I figured he had improved with age, but he is not like a fine wine. Last time he rode my dirtbike he ended up doing a wheelie hanging on for quite some time before the log home broke his fall. Well, this time around wasn't much different, except he didn't hit a house. He was riding with Declan on the dirtbike and gunned it causing a wheelie and flipped the bike over with Declan on it. Needless to say Declan was not to happy with this. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I've got to say his first ride was probably the funniest thing I've ever seen my Dad do, Wish I had a photo or movie of that. Collin pictured, look ma no hands! Now we need to get a bike that fits Collin.

Landscaping

Finished removing all the sod from our front hill today. Restacked the rockwall (leveling it) and ended up with some leftover rocks. Started to assemble the new upper rock wall and planted new flowers and greenry in the new flower beds! Now I need to search the countryside for some more flat rocks to finish this wall.

First Wheels

Well I found a nice deal on a dirt bike for my little guy at the 1st Annual West Rutland town wide garage sale. Declan has been wanting a dirt bike since he saw the stunt riders at the fairgrounds a couple years ago. When the deal presented itself, I could not pass it by. Now he can have some of the same enjoyment I had as a kid growing up. He's starting a bit earlier than I did, so watch out X-Game riders for this future motocrosser. Thanks to Charlie at www.centralvermontmotorcycles.com/ for his help hooking us up with the training wheels!

Smile

Do you ever get the feeling, animals know when your taking their picture. Well, this guy turned right around and gave me this look. I don't think he's camera shy. This was the perfect expression for a perfect Friday afternoon.

War Paint

My son, Declan, enjoyed painting his own face tonight to match his new BDU camoflage shirt and pants. What a memory to capture forever! The next day he painted his face again and went all over, from store to store, entertaining people along his way.

Kyle & Louisa's Wedding

May 8th 2009, the Wedding of Kyle & Louisa Kapitanski. The wedding was held at Noel's Restaurant in Mendon Vermont (http://www.noelscatering.com). This was the first wedding held at Noel's since their opening earlier this year. Although thunderstorms were forecasted, the weather was nice for the ceremony held on the rear deck. Formals were taken in the grassy areas behind the restaurant and after finishing, the rain started. Very nice small wedding held in the tavern with friends, family and love. The Garlic-Herb chicken was great! Not to mention the unusual wedding cake, made by the best wo-man (Kyle's sister), Blueberry cake. Fairy Garden

Well spring is in the air finally, my wife loves to work on her new found garden - Fairy Garden. What a surprise one of the neighborhood kids had on her face when she realized the garden next to our walkway! Pictured is my wife's new favorite tree in the yard, her fairy evergreen tree.

Nikon's flagship camera body is the Nikon D3. I am very happy to have this camera in my arsenal of tools to assist in creating the best photos. The technology of this camera allows flawless quality shots during action or low light photographs. This camera will taking pictures at an amazing 11 frames per second. Nikon has introduce the supposed better Nikon D3X, but not worth the $8000 price tag for a lesser quality camera than the D3.

Also on hand was Sweet Surrender Bakery, from Ludlow, offers samples of their cakes. Yes I'm a sucker for cake!

Shawn PemrickApril 08, 2009New Market Press welcomes Shawn Pemrick of Rutland to the Rutland Tribune team. Shawn is the Tribune's new roving freelance photographer, so you'll see him representing the Rutland Tribune at various happenings around the county. As the owner of Shawn Pemrick Photography, located at 49 Evergreen Ave. in Rutland, Shawn is an accomplished photojournalist, sports, and business-industrial photographer. He also excels as a portrait, wedding and special events photographer.A native Floridian, Shawn moved to Rutland with his family at a young age. He is a member of Rutland High School's Class of 1995 and still enjoys rooting for the hometown team; you'll see him covering sports at other area high-schools, too. After a stint in the law enforcement field as a Rutland County deputy sheriff, Shawn decided to do what many of us like to dream about — pursue a lifelong passion; in Shawn's case it is photography. He isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves either and be a part of local government — he ran unsuccessfully for alderman in Rutland City in 2004 and was campaign manager for David Tripani's bid for mayor of Rutland. As a small business owner, Shawn is an active member of the local business community; he serves as a reporter for the Rutland County Pro-Business Coalition and helps improve transparency in local business-government dealings. Shawn and his wife Jamie are both entrepreneurs; the couple's three children, ages 3, 12 and 18, keep them active and creative.Shawn's new and improved Web site, http://www.shawnpemrickphotography.com/, displays a gallery of his professional images — so we're honored to have a skilled photographer contribute photos to the Rutland Tribune on a regular basis.
